Yes, I felt really ignorant reading some of this stuff! Why hadn't I heard of Centralia? I don't have a lot of confience in the National Parks' Administration after reading this either.... Made me mad!

It's hard to pick a book that all will enjoy. The book is easy to read with light and informative moments. I could have used the stuff about black bears earlier this summer! I think the book was a fine choice.

Makes me wonder. Could Katz really keep up? Would have been difficult for Bryson but near impossible for Katz. Could they really have existed on snickers, raisins and peanuts for days?

I liked the ending. I could feel that Bryson did not want it to end but everything does one way or another.

The trail made him appreciate what nature has done for us and how man can really spoil it. Makes you think twice about simple things like fertilizer and cutting the grass. Forcing nature to be what we want instead of just being.

I view them as positives. We are being taught without it being jammed down our throats. Enough info to make you wonder and question but not get turned off by it,

Yes. I don't know of anyone that has done the entire trail. When I was in college we used to talk about it but we never had the time to devote to it.

Their task was monumental. Could not believe that the two of them as inexperienced as they were actually did what they did. And they both survived.

I think this was definitely a wise choice. It has a lot of info that many different types would learn from. The humor was wonderful and I felt like I was there.

I don't ever recall hearing of this. Captured my attention and I immediately looked it up on the internet. It is still burning underground. I have mentioned this to a lot of people and no one I know has ever heard of it. Fascinating.
